"Guardians of Liberty ... a Nation of Minutemen"

This is a nationwide  educational  and marksmanship program  celebrating the Armed Citizen Militias of the American Revolution.

Awards and Shooting Competitions are part of this program.

Our purpose is to incorporate American History into  firearm safety and marksmanship training (new and existing programs). Experience your American History, and bring real purpose to your marksmanship.

Consider adding this program to your other shooting activities and programs.  Below are links to events that have already taken place. Participants (youth and adults)  may earn the various awards in the American Patriot Sharpshooter Award Series.  You can start by picking one particular event (e.g., Minuteman Cross Country Biathlon) and give it a try! Be the first in your area.

Your group can choose to participate in the American Patriot Sharpshooter Award Series as a stand alone program. Also, if you desire, you and/or your group can engage in the Militia Study Questions program. Thus, you can do either, or both. It is up to you.

Combine your marksmanship activities with a setting which includes events drawing from the American Revolution and our forefathers fight against government tyranny and oppression.  At the same time,  youth and adults can learn more about the history of the Unalienable Individual Right and Duty to Keep and Bear Arms, and a Citizen's duty as being a member of the Militia of the Several States.

 Examples of elements of this program being utilized in youth programs in the State of California are:

Minuteman Cross Country  Biathlon - Results and Photos 9/5/2009

Minuteman Snowshoe Patrol - RESULTS March 15, 2009  Photos

Minuteman Snowshoe Patrol - Early 2009  - Preliminary Plans

Summer 2008 - Minuteman Cross Country Biathlon  August 30, 2008  Photos of event and results

Whether your club or group includes adult and/or youth,  this educational program is a must for every American Citizen.  Adapt the requirements of this program to fit into your club or group.  How about adding it to your local  programs? Examples: 4-H; Boy Scouts, Civil Air Patrol, Venturing, JROTC,  NJROTC, Rifle and Pistol Club activities; Gun Club activities; State Competitions;  Junior Rifle Clubs; and more.

Why not in your State, and your County?

The terms "sport", "sporting", "sporting purposes",  and words of similar  import are NOT part of this program since education about more important matters are at hand - the defense of liberty and freedom.

Militia Educational Study Program

There is no intent that this program constitute the forming of any private "militias", Para-military, or other similar type organizations. Any such actions are not part of this program.

Rather, this program is a "Militia Educational Study Program", and  includes the following educational objectives:

Facilitate American citizens setting up, and / or incorporating into new and/or existing marksmanship programs in their town and city,  historically related local educational programs, that include and promote:

     a. the use of the terms "Militia", "Minutemen",  "muster" and related terminology for the purpose of furthering knowledge and education about the safeguards of our Constitution and Bill of Rights (thus, for example, competitors will take on the name of historical militias of the American Revolution and learn about that militias history while they compete on the firing line);

     b. the  historical election of "militia" officers,  etc..., for competitions and awards, for the purpose of furthering knowledge and education about the history of such matters;

     c. the use of historical militia flags in the competitions and award activities while learning about the flags and the patriots who used them;

     d. incorporation of scenarios drawing upon the American Revolutionary War period into marksmanship events and competitions for educational purposes;

     e. developing and promoting knowledge and understanding as to why the American Bill of Rights provides that a well regulated Militia is "necessary to the security of a free State";

     f.  developing and promoting  knowledge and understanding as to why the militia (an Armed Citizenry) is essential to the preservation of liberty, and how militias of the American Revolutionary War period functioned and operated;

     g. developing and promoting knowledge and understanding as to the Unalienable Individual Right to Keep and Bear Arms as being  justly considered as the palladium of the liberties of our republic and deterrent to, and defense against, government tyranny and oppression;

     h. integrating these Educational Objectives into local  marksmanship competitions and firearm safety programs across America in order to promote knowledge and understanding among gun owners and the general public as to the true purpose of the Individual Right to Keep and Bear Arms while they participate in shooting activities; and

     i.  developing and promoting knowledge and understanding as to how the above matters relate to the preservation of our Constitutional  Republic,  liberty,  and freedom  in present day America.

And yes,  modern firearms are to be used.

Thus, this Militia Educational Study Program includes education about: the right and duty of an armed citizenry as being a defense against government tyranny and oppression; our American history; the American Revolution; Declaration of Independence; Constitution; and Bill of Rights.  Thus, the marksmanship awards and competitions have a theme grounded in the American Revolutionary war period and the fight against tyranny and oppression.

We must all remember that an educated citizenry is essential to preserving liberty and freedom. Think about it.  If today, you  use the word "militia", even among those who claim to be "gun rights advocates", you will find people walking away from you, or stating -- "we don't want to use the "M" word".  Have you asked yourself - why?  The words are in the Bill of Rights and the U.S. Constitution.  Don't we at least have a duty to learn about why our forefathers inserted such matters in our founding documents?

Our forefathers provided us with the tools, we need to remove the rust. That starts with education and being willing to learn and understand what our forefathers put everything on the line for.  They put their lives and fortunes on the line for liberty and freedom, and yet we hesitate to use the term  - "Militia" while in public.  This program will facilitate a nationwide educational environment for American Citizen gun owners and American Citizen non gun owners -  "WE THE PEOPLE" - to learn about  the duty and right to keep and bear arms, and the duty and right of the Militia of the several states (as expressed in the U.S. Constitution, Bill of Rights and historical background). It is hoped you will help spread this program to  all states, counties, cities and towns across America. Will you be the first in your State, or your County? Send a link to your event so we can be add your "Muster Call" event to our Patriot Events Link Page.

Start today by incorporating this program. It is simple to do.  If you see a program Activity Award that you think is exciting,  then START setting it up and make it happen.  Work is still being done to build this site. If you have comments, please send them via the contact form.

How about having your  own Minuteman Cross Country Biathlon (summer).

How about setting up a  Minuteman Mountain Wilderness Snowshoe Patrol (of Ski Patrol) for winter?

Sample documents, scenarios, and scoring sheets are ready for you to use at no cost.  Events include music, patriotism, fun, living our American heritage,  furthering firearm safety and American Marksmanship, and standing for liberty! You may need to modify event details based upon your geographical location, range conditions, weather conditions, degree of complexity, and other matters.  More Patriot events and competitions are being added.

"Today, we need a nation of Minutemen, citizens who are not only prepared to take arms, but citizens who regard the preservation of freedom as the basic purpose of their daily life".
-John F. Kennedy

Our Motto:

Guardians of Liberty ... a Nation of Minutemen.

Wherever standing armies are kept up, and the right of the people to keep and bear arms is, under any colour or pretext whatsoever, prohibited, liberty, if not already annihilated, is on the brink of destruction. — St. George Tucker, in his edition of 'Blackstone's Commentaries,' 1:300 (1803).

In Re the Constitution:

Natural Born

"The right of the citizens to keep and bear arms has justly been considered, as the palladium of the liberties of a republic; since it offers a strong moral check against the usurpation and arbitrary power of rulers; and will generally, even if these are successful in the first instance, enable the people to resist and triumph over them...."
